Position Overview
The Systems Engineer will be responsible for overseeing design, development, test, and debugging of hardware, firmware, and cloud software systems. This role requires a versatile engineer with expertise in across technical and business, with the ability to troubleshoot issues, including Linux environments, power electronics, Bluetooth/WiFi IoT devices, and backend cloud services.
Key Responsibilities
System Design & Development

Oversees the design and manufacturing teams to develop, test, and implement hardware and firmware for SoC and Wifi based EV Smart Outlet & Charging products.

Engages in electrical design reviews, provide expertise in validation and verification activities.
Debugging & Troubleshooting

Diagnose and resolve issues across hardware, firmware, and cloud software platforms.

Debug electrical hardware to evaluate and demonstrate new technologies at both bench-level and system-level.

Conduct test plan development and debug analyses to identify and solve system-wide problems.
Integration & Collaboration

Work with Standards, Regulatory, and Quality teams to establish and maintain release and development processes.

Collaborate with x-functionally, including manufacturing and test engineering to ensure high-quality product manufacturability.
Project Management

Execute projects from inception to completion across multiple disciplines.

Develop detailed module-level feature definitions and functional requirements in collaboration with feature architects and module owners.
Customer & Documentation Support

Occasionally act as a point of contact for engineering issues, assisting in resolving customer problems both online and in the field.

Develop and maintain technical documents and procedures to support engineering and customer service teams.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
-
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

Proven experience in systems engineering, hardware design, and Linux / firmware environments.
Technical Skills
-
Strong understanding of ARM/SoC-based architectures, bus interfaces, peripherals (Wifi, BT, Memory, USB, etc), and PMIC architecture and interfaces.

Manage hardware and embedded-Linux firmware test plans and test results documentation

Deep understanding of power systems, Bluetooth/WiFi technologies, and backend cloud services.
Soft Skills

Pando Electric is looking for a VP of Engineering to join our rapidly growing early startup that is rapidly redefining the multi-family EV Charging industry. The role will lead, define, develop and oversee world-wide team of self-sufficient developers, engineers, and data scientists responsible for creating Mobile, Web, API and SaaS products. The VP of Engineering will work with the CEO and executive staff to build and execute a multi-year product strategy, create vision, goals, define budgets, identify technology opportunities related to the engineering function of the organization. The ideal candidate will also have hardware design and manufacturing experience building groundbreaking that crosses the boundary of hardware, firmware and cloud technology. Preference is someone with a love of rapid-growth challenges, is partially remote and operates in a fast-paced, startup environment where every day brings new challenges and opportunities.
What You'll Do:
• Collaborate with CEO and other execs to create a strategic product roadmap that outlines future development, budget, feature releases, enhancements, milestones.
• Hire, Train, mentor, and motivate a team of passionate engineers to foster a high performance culture that exceeds company OKRs and rapid-growth objectives.
• Develop a plan for integrating the technical roadmap into the organization's workflow, including, but not limited to, technical vision, tracking metrics, creating custom dashboards, applying automation / AI where possible, hiring and tracking team projects and tasks.

What You'll Need:
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, business, or related field; MBA or advanced degree is a plus
• 7+ years of experience leading engineering teams, building enterprise SaaS and cloud-based solutions, with proven shipped/ released products of quality
• Proven experience hiring and leading engineering teams in an Agile/Scrum environment
• Demonstrated success in defining and implementing budget, technical roadmap, design, development, delivery, and maintenance of large-scale and high performance platforms
• Highly proficient with all layers of the development stack, with preference of some knowledge of Firmware and hardware stack in addition to cloud/mobile/web.
• Strong leadership and analytical skills to ePectively guide and collaborate across remote teams to influence decision-making and drive innovation
